NEDA warns public vs fake emails soliciting crypto

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) on Sunday warned the public against swindlers who were impersonating officials of the agency and were soliciting money from the public using fake email accounts.

In an advisory, NEDA called on the public to double-check email addresses, as official accounts end in @neda.gov.ph.

"NEDA does not engage in solicitation of cryptocurrencies and related requests for digital payments," the advisory read.

"We are monitoring such incidents and will report to authorities," it added.

This comes as NEDA reported that there are fake email accounts impersonating officials, particularly Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua.

NEDA is mandated to formulate continuing, coordinated, and fully integrated social and economic policies, plans, and programs of the government. — DVM, GMA News
