PNP online system opens for speedy action on complaints

PNP online system opens for speedy action on complaints

The nation's police organization on Monday launched an online system called "E-Sumbong" that will quickly address citizens' complaints within their communities.

During the system's launch at Camp Crame, Philippine National Police chief General Guillermo Eleazar said residents' complaints received in the 24-hour online portal will not be ignored as they will "immediately act and resolve the complaints."

"In our improved complaint referral system, every complaint or concern is urgent. Police should always think that time is of the essence when they receive a call or text from our countrymen," Eleazar said in Filipino.

The enhanced referral system will also allow police to regain its trust from the public, Eleazar said.

"Our goal is to strengthen the public's coordination with police. If the public sees how promptly we respond to their complaints, I'm sure their trust for the PNP will return," Eleazar said in Filipino.

Asked about possible hoax reports from citizens, Eleazar assures that the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group will immediately investigate these incidents.

"We can ask the ACG which will have access to our system to conduct an investigation. Our ACG has the talent to do this but the public who will try to send fake reports, these are well-documented, you will be sanctioned. If you commit violations under our Anti-Cybercrime Law, you will face the consequences," Eleazar said in a mix of Filipino and English.

For those with concerns or complaints within their communities, they can send it to PNP hotlines 0919-160-1752 (Smart); 0917-847-5757 (Globe).
