House leader Oaminal contracts COVID-19

Deputy Speaker and Misamis Occidental Representative Henry Oaminal has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, Oaminal, who had experienced fever as well as body weakness, advised those who had direct contact with him since May 15 to isolate themselves and contact their respective city health offices for contact tracing purposes.

"I have reported the positive result to the City Health Office and the local government unit of Ozamiz City," Oaminal said.

"Following COVID-19 protocols, I will be on quarantine for 14 days; at the same time our residence is on lockdown and marked accordingly."

Oaminal called on the public to continue following health and safety protocols such as wearing of face masks and shields and observing social distancing at all times.

"We will never know when and where the virus will strike. This is why we must continue to adopt a unified stance and exert continued efforts to follow safety protocols, in order to curb the spread of COVID-19," Oaminal said.

"I am confident that with the cooperation of the entire district and province, we will beat this virus," he added. --Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
