International flights to Mactan airport diverted to NAIA


As part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), all inbound international flights to Mactan International Airport will be diverted to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) starting Saturday, 29th of May 2021 until 5th of June 2021.

The move was based on the memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea based on the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

In a public advisory posted by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), there are certain flights that are not included in the order.

The flights that are not included in the diversion are:

  • Domestic flights
  • Both incoming and outgoing cargo flights, and
  • Departing commercial international flights

The MCIAA advised that all affected passengers are advised to "immediately coordinate with their respective airlines."

Passengers coming from abroad will undergo COVID-19 testing and quarantine protocols will be implemented. -- BAP, GMA News
