50,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine to arrive on May 30

At least 50,000 doses of Russian Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to the Philippines on May 30, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said Friday.

In a media advisory, the NTF said the 50,000 doses of Sputnik V will be delivered on board Qatar Airways which is expected to touch down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at 11 pm of May 30.

The 50,000 Sputnik V doses will be stored at Pharmaserv Warehouse in Marikina city before it is deployed to various areas.

Based on the evaluation of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Sputnik V has an efficacy rate of 91.6% and is recommended to individuals aged 18 years and above.

If Sunday's delivery date will push through, it will be the third batch of Sputnik V vaccine doses to reach Philippine shores.

The first batch of Sputnik V totaling 15,000 doses arrived last May 1 while another 15,000 Sputnik V doses were delivered last May 12.

The Philippines has over 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far. Of this number, around five million are Chinese vaccine Sinovac.—LDF, GMA News
