Sotto, Velasco meet, discuss pending legislative measures, Duterte's SONA

Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Speaker Lord Allan Velasco met Tuesday to discuss pending legislative measures in both chambers of Congress.

On the part of the House of Representatives, the chamber is aiming to pass the proposed Bayanihan 3 and the Resolution of Both Houses No. 2 on third and final reading before it adjourns sine die this week.

Sotto had said Bayanihan 3 and the proposed measure to amend the economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution are not among the priorities of the Senate before it adjourns on June 4.

The two officials also talked about the possible scenarios for President Rodrigo Duterte's State of the Nation Address in July.

Velasco earlier said the SONA this year would likely have the same setup as last year's wherein the number of attendees would be limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sotto and Velasco vowed to continue their coordination as regards the priority bills of both chambers to ensure that they remain productive even during the upcoming election season. —KBK, GMA News
