Mayor Isko says he is running in Eleksyon 2022 but won’t specify post yet

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday said he is running in the 2022 elections but refused to specify yet for what position.

Interviewed on ANC, Moreno said that for now, he would like to fulfill his obligation as a local chief executive to be fair with his constituents, most especially in the middle of the pandemic.

“I am going to be fair with our people. I am going to be honest with our people. Magpapaalam ako sa kanila. (I will inform them),” he said.

“Kung ano man yun (Whatever that is), that remains to be seen, but definitely I am running,” he added.

Moreno was among the political names President Rodrigo Duterte is considering to be his successor, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque earlier said on Thursday.

The others are Davao City Sara Duterte, Senators Christopher Bong Go and Manny Pacquiao and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

But Moreno said that discussing political ambitions amid the ongoing pandemic is bad timing considering that many people are struggling.

He criticized some politicians who are pushing their interest this early.

“They would rather do their political shenanigans in the middle of this pandemic. I will not engage in that kind of situation,” he said. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
