NCR's share to totality of COVID-19 cases down to 13%

The National Capital Region's share on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the entire Philippines has already lowered to 13%, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday.

Vergeire said COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila have continued to decrease.

"Nakikita rin ho natin ngayon na National Capital Region ay talagang bumababa na. It's share of cases in the totality of cases in the country is just about 13% na lang po ngayon when during the surge, tayo po'y umaabot ng 30% to 40% share sa mga kaso. Ngayon ay 13%," Vergeire said in an online press briefing.

Vergeire said Mindanao has 25% share, Visayas has 20% share, and the rest of Luzon has 40% share on the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country.

On Sunday, the Department of Health reported that there were 7,228 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total tally to 1,269,478.

This brought the total active cases in the country to 59,337, of which 93.5% were mild, 2.4% were asymptomatic, 1.7% were severe, and 1.3% were in critical condition.

Further, total recoveries increased to 1,188,243 while the number of fatalities went up to 21,898.—AOL, GMA News
