11 dead, 2 missing due to Tropical Storm Dante — NDRRMC

Due to the impact of Tropical Storm Dante, 11 people were reported to have died while two remain missing in different regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In an update, the NDRRMC said the fatalities and missing persons were reported in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao, and Soccsksargen.

At least 3,284 homes were reported damaged in the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao, and Caraga. At least 3,123 of them were partially damaged while 161 were totally damaged.

The NDRRMC said 124,462 people or 29,916 families were affected by the tropical storm in 479 barangays in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

A total of 861 people or 241 families are currently staying in evacuation centers.

Over P91.6 million worth of damage in agriculture was reported in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Davao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

More than P131 million worth of damage in infrastructure was also reported in Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

Power interruption was experienced in 18 provinces in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.

Network interruption was also encountered in Northern and Eastern Samar.

At least eight domestic flights in Surigao, Antique, and Caticlan were cancelled.

A total of 341 passengers and 110 rolling cargoes are currently stranded in Caraga, according to the NDRRMC. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
