UP lands 399th place in recent global university rankings

The University of the Philippines (UP) placed 399th among the 1,300 universities worldwide, according to the think tank Quacquarelli Symonds' 2022 university rankings.

, QC rankings showed that UP's spot fell from 396th in 2021 QS rankings to 399th place in the 2022 QS rankings.

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila landed 601-650 spot, followed by De La Salle University which ranked 801-1000. Both universities retained their last year's QS rankings.

On the other hand, University of Santo Tomas (UST) fell from 801-1000 place  in 2021 rankings to 1,001-1,200 place in the 2022 university rankings.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, United States remained the top university in the rankings. It was followed by Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology, and University of Oxford.

QS university rankings follow a "methodological framework" which uses six metrics to evaluate universities.

The universities are evaluated by academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.—AOL, GMA News
