Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Eleazar also hinted at the possibility of employing a different approach in coming up with measures during the election campaign and during the election period.

In June 2019, PNP recorded a total of 60 election-related violent incidents connection with the May 2019 midterm polls.

This number was much lower compared to the 133 incidents reported during the 2016 national polls.

Eleazar said, the over 50% decrease in the total number of violent incidents was attributed by the PNP to the early preparation of the police organization. —LBG, GMA News
