Ex-President Noynoy Aquino’s ashes arrive at Manila Memorial Park for inurnment

The ashes of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III have arrived at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City on Saturday for inurnment.

At around 12:40 p.m., the coaster carrying the remains of the former President arrived at the gate of the memorial park.

A water salute was given to Aquino before the coaster carrying his urn entered the vicinity of the Manila Memorial Park.

The coaster departed from Ateneo de Manila University at around 11:25 a.m.—right after the necrological Mass led by Archbishop Socrates Villegas.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Major General Edgardo De Leon earlier in the day said artillery guns will be fired in salute to the former President at saluting stations at Camp Aguinaldo, Fort Bonifacio, Fort Abad, and Villamor Air Base at one minute interval.

The gun salutes will commence once the vehicle bearing the urn with the ashes of the former President leaves the Church of the Gesu in Ateneo de Manila University.

A 21-gun salute will also be given to the former President after his inurnment. —KG, GMA News
