Palace sees P9B left from Bayanihan 2 will be used by June 30 expiration

The Palace expressed confidence on Monday that the billions of unspent fund under Bayanihan 2 law, which expires on June 30, will be all obligated within three days.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that from an initial P18 billion worth of unobligated or yet to be allocated fund under Bayanihan 2, the amount is down to P9 billion.

"Half of the P9 billion has been obligated," Roque said when asked what has been the consensus after President Rodrigo Duterte's meeting with congressional leaders on possible extension of Bayanihan 2 and proposed P405 -billion Bayanihan 3 stimulus fund.

"So mukha naman pong maski umabot tayo sa end of the month ay kaya namang i-obligate iyong natitira sa Bayanihan II. So antayin po natin," Roque added.

(It seems like everything will be allocated by the end of the month, so let us just wait.)

As for Bayanihan 3, Roque reiterated that the administration's economic team is not yet on board.

"Wala pa, kasi nga gusto malaman ng economic team kung may natira pa roon sa 2020, 2021 na budget at sa Bayanihan 2," Roque added.

(Bayanihan 3 is not decided yet since economic managers are still finding out if there is any amount left under 2020, 2021 budget and Bayanihan 2.)—LDF, GMA News
