Eleazar directs CIDG to probe COVID-19 vaccine schedule ‘fixers’

By JOVILAND RITA, GMA News

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday tasked the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to investigate the alleged “fixers” of vaccination schedules.

In a statement, the PNP said these fixers ask for payment in exchange for an earlier schedule of inoculation against COVID-19.

“I am directing the CIDG to investigate this scheme of vaccination schedule fixers in the different local government units,” Eleazar said.

“We will closely coordinate with our LGUs to prevent the proliferation of this modus,” he added.

This is after Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared that two fixers were caught asking fees from recipients in exchange for an earlier schedule in the city’s vaccination program.

According to Eleazar, the modus is possibly also being perpetrated in other areas, not just in Pasig City.

The PNP chief underscored that the prioritization list in the government’s vaccination program should be followed.

Eleazar discouraged the public from patronizing such “illegal operations,” emphasizing that the vaccination is for free.

“Ginagawa na po ng ating pamahalaan ang lahat ng paraan para mapabilis pa ang pagpapabakuna at maabot natin sa lalong madaling panahon ang herd immunity,” he said.
