Duterte strongest VP candidate in Eleksyon 2022 –Martin Romualdez

For House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, President Rodrigo Duterte was the strongest potential vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.

Romualdez’s remark came after Duterte had said that running for the vice presidency was not at all a bad idea. The PDP-Laban had been urging Duterte to run for vice president in the 2022 elections and even allowed him to choose his possible running mate.

“I believe President Duterte is very much qualified and capable to run for vice president. He remains very popular five years after his election as the sixteenth president of the Philippines,” Romualdez said in a statement issued Tuesday.

“I agree with him that he needs to continue his good platforms of government, including the fight against corruption, illegal drugs, and criminality,” he added.

Earlier, Duterte said he would support Romualdez if the latter decides to run for the second-highest position in the country.

He also said being the vice president only means waiting for the president to wilt.

Romualdez was still studying his options for the 2022 polls, but he already said he would not seek the vice presidency if Duterte will run for the same position, saying that it is not a good idea to run against the President.
