Philippines fully vaccinates over 2.8M individuals vs. COVID-19

The Philippines has fully vaccinated over 2.8 million people against COVID-19 as of July 4, more than four months since the launch of its inoculation campaign, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said Monday.

In its latest bulletin, the task force said 11,708,029 doses have been administered across 1,197 active vaccination sites nationwide.

The Philippines administered an average of 254,141 doses daily over the past week.

A total of 8,839,124 people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 2,868,905 are now fully vaccinated after receiving both doses.

Among the partially vaccinated individuals, more than 1.7 million are health workers, 2.5 million are senior citizens, 2.9 million are persons with comorbidities, 1.3 million are essential workers, and 256,431 are indigents.

Out of the fully vaccinated individuals, more than 1.1 million are health workers, 788,630 are senior citizens, 897,719 are persons with comorbidities, 26,109 are essential workers, and 227 are indigents.

The Philippines aims to vaccinate 50 million to 70 million people this year.

“The government is urging eligible populations belonging to priority groups A1 to A5 to register with their local government units, get vaccinated, and complete the required number of doses as scheduled,” the task force said.

“Regardless of vaccination status, everyone is urged to continue practicing the minimum public health standards as you may still get infected with COVID-19 and infect other people,” it added. —Julia Mari Ornedo/KBK, GMA News
