Eleazar orders CIDG to track down illegal COVID-19 vaccine vendors

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday directed the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to go after illegal vendors of COVID-19 vaccines.

In a statement, Eleazar said the CIDG should coordinate closely with other concerned police units to eradicate the illegal activity that endangers the public.

“We are constantly coordinating with the Food and Drugs Administration and the Department of Health regarding our operations against the illegal sale of vaccines,” he said.

According to Eleazar, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently arrested suspects who were selling fake vaccines that were smuggled into the country.

Eleazar said they would identify the perpetrators involved in the smuggling of fake vaccines.

He reminded the public not to patronize the illegal activity and underscored that the vaccines rolled out under the National Vaccination Program are free.

Eleazar encouraged the public to patiently wait for their turn in the vaccination program of their local government units and authorized companies. — DVM, GMA News
