Are you open to run for President? Sara says yes

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday answered yes when she was asked if she was open to run for president in Eleksyon 2022.

Asked so in an interview in Cebu, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said, “Opo.”

“Ang importante sa ngayon ay malaman namin kung ano ang sentimyento ng mga tao at ano ang gusto ng mga tao,” Sara said in Cebuano in a video by Sunstar Cebu.

Several groups have been pushing Sara Duterte, head of the regional group Hugpong ng Pagbabago, to run for president with her father as her runningmate.

Duterte said he is “sold on the idea” of running for vice president even as several lawmakers saw it as “bending” the Constitution.

Cebu visit

The Davao mayor said she paid a courtesy call to Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and discussed the province’s projects.

Asked about discussion on next year’s elections, she said, “Wala pa. Pero nagpaalam din ako kay Gov. kung puwede ba kami bumalik dito sa Cebu to talk to the Cebuanos. It’s important for us sa HNP to talk to a lot of people. Pumayag naman si gov.”

Sara Duterte said she is overwhelmed by the support of the Cebuanos as can be seen in the “Run, Sara, Run” tarpaulins displayed in the city.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga aking supporters dito sa Cebu sa kanilang trust and confidence sa akin and that is one of the reasons kaya kami nandito because we want to ask the people kung ano ba talaga ang gusto nila,” she said.

Meanwhile, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go expressed his support for Sara Duterte should she run for president, according to a report on “24 Oras Weekend.”

“I leave my faith to the Dutertes… and I leave my faith to the Filipino people. Mas unahin natin si Mayor Sara. Kung tatakbo si Mayor Sara, full support talaga ako sa kanya,” Go said.
