Eight more fatalities in PAF C-130 crash identified

The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Sunday released the names of eight more military personnel who were killed in the C-130 plane crash last week, bringing to 28 the number of fatalities who have been identified.

The AFP said that the families of the recently identified troops have already been already informed.  

It earlier identified 20 of the fatalities from the crash.

Air and land transportation are currently being arranged to bring the remains of the soldiers to their families, the AFP added.

"The AFP shall continue its utmost efforts in identifying the remaining cadavers. We will continue to coordinate with the PNP SOCO in order to ensure that they are promptly returned to their loved ones," it said.

The C-130 took off from Cagayan de Oro and was going to Sulu to bring troops when it crashed in Barangay Bangkal in Patikul at 11:30 a.m. last Sunday.

The crash investigation was continuing as the aircraft's black box was sent to the United States to have its data retrieved. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
