Philippines extends travel ban on India, other Asian and Middle East countries until July 31 amid COVID-19 pandemic

Malacañang said Wednesday the Philippine government has extended the ban on inbound flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates and Oman until July 31 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the announcement a day before the initial ban expires on July 15.

Roque, however, said President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to decide on imposing similar ban on Indonesia where there are increasing cases of the more transmissible Delta variant.

“We already have a recommendation but let us wait for the decision of the President,” Roque added. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
