4,516 new COVID-19 infections logged, active cases at 46,806

The Philippines on Tuesday reported 4,516 new COVID-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to 1,517,903, as 10 laboratories failed to submit data on time.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the total active cases in the country to 46,806 of which, 91.7% are mild, 2.1% are asymptomatic, 2.7% are severe, and 1.6% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 1,444,253 after 5,240 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.


The death toll climbed to 26,844 with 58 new fatalities.

The DOH said nine duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 30 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases.

Data from the DOH showed that 54% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 36% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 42% of the ICU beds are in use, while 34% of the ventilators are utilized.—LDF, GMA News
