Sotto to let party decide on official VP nominee

Senate President Vicente Sotto III said he is leaving it up to his party, Nationalist People’s Coalition, to decide on its official nominee for vice president in  Eleksyon 2022.

"We'll let the party decide on who will be the official nominee because we will be signing the certificate of nomination. Mag-inhibit ako 'pag may ibang tumakbo sa same position sa akin," Sotto said in a report on "24 Oras."

Sotto made the remark when asked about Senator Sherwin Gatchalian's possible vice presidential bid next year.

Sotto and Gatchalian are party mates in the NPC.

Senator Panfilo Lacson earlier confirmed that he and Sotto would run for president and vice president, respectively, in the 2022 polls.

According to the latest Pulse Asia survey, 4% of Filipinos said they would vote Lacson for president while 10% of Filipinos said they would vote for Sotto.
