Floods, landslides hit Luzon areas amid Habagat rains


Several parts of Luzon experienced flooding, landslides, and power interruption on Friday amid the heavy rains brought by Habagat or southwest monsoon which was enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

Many roads in the National Capital Region on Friday morning were still submerged in up to waist-deep flood amid heavy rains, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Based on its flood alert, the MMDA said some roads in Parañaque City, Pasig City, and Malabon City are flooded.

In Parañaque City, waist-deep floods were reported on Governor Ave. BF homes and Salagun St. BF homes, as well as knee-deep flood on Kaingin Road as of 6 a.m.

The area of SM City Parañaque also has gutter-deep flood.

In Malabon City, half gutter-deep flood was reported in Camos Extension and FC Villa Boulevard as of 6 a.m.  Gutter-deep flood also hit  Arellano Camus St., Sevilla in front of the market, and Avha Court in Barangay Tenejeros

In Pasig City, up to three inches of floodwater was reported on Metroville, PSP Avenue, St. Joseph as of 6 a.m.

Meanwhile, a landslide was reported in Camp 5, Kennon Road in Benguet, according to the Tuba Municipal Police Station. The landslide blocked both lanes of the road.

A landslide was also reported in Sitio Pacac, Tadiangan, Asin Road, the police station said. The roads were only passable for motorcycles.

 

In Barangay Tabaan Norte, a landslide was also reported in barrio Bacayao.

In a notice, The Batangas II Electric Cooperative, Inc. advised that power interruption will be experienced Mabini, Bagalangit, Ligaya, Mainit, Majuben, San Jose, San Teodoro, and Solo.

According to the electric cooperative, a landslide and toppled tree affected their primary line.  —KBK, GMA News
