One Hospital Command calls rise before ECQ enforcement in NCR

Treatment czar Leopoldo Vega on Sunday said the number of calls received by the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC), the country's hospital referral center, is already increasing prior to the implementation of the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status in Metro Manila.

Vega said the number of calls rose from 90 during the first week of July to 175 calls recorded in the past two weeks.

"Increasing 'yan. Ibig sabihin niyan may napapansin na active calls na ito. Dumadami ang nagkakasakit o nahahawaan (It is increasing. This means active calls are increasing. Many people are getting sick or transmission is higher)," said Vega over Dobol B TV.

Vega said majority of the calls are from Metro Manila. He further said they also received calls from Region 4A (Calabarzon) and Region 3 (Central Luzon), where COVID-19 cases are also increasing.

To prepare for the ECQ and possible sudden surge of COVID-19 infections, Vega said they already added 110 call receivers to their manpower for the OHCC. He added that more medical coordinators also joined the OHCC.

"Nagtatanggap na kami ng telemedicine kung kailangan ng virtual consultation (at) virtual prescription puwede mangyari," Vega said.

(We are also offering telemedicine services if people need virtual consultation and virtual prescription.)

Meanwhile, Vega assured the public that the intensive care units rose from 739 to 1,123 in Metro Manila.

Based on its official Facebook page, OHCC can be contacted through these numbers:

  • 0919-977-3333
  • 0915-777-7777

With the rising number of Delta variant COVID-19 cases, the national government decided to reimpose ECQ, the strictest quarantine status, in Metro Manila from August 6 to 20.

This was reached after the Metro Manila Council appealed to have stricter measures in the metropolis.
