Palace to heads of families: Impose lockdowns in your homes

Malacañang on Monday asked the heads of each household to declare a lockdown at their homes ahead of the scheduled enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and a few other areas.

The National Capital Region (NCR) will be under ECQ from August 6 to 20 to curb the renewed steep increase in the cases of COVID-19 and prevent hospitals from getting overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.

“Huwag na tayo mag rely sa ECQ-ECQ (Let us not count on ECQ). Family lockdown is the solution,” Roque said.

“Family heads, mag-declare na po kayo ng lockdown. Huwag na po ninyong palabasin ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay dahil baka mamatay pa iyan dahil sa Delta variant,” he added.

Only essential trips are allowed in areas under ECQ.

The Department of Health has said that the Delta variant could infect five to eight people in one setting.
