COVID-19 vaccination not mandatory for work —DOH

Employers are reminded that requiring COVID-19 vaccination among their workers is not allowed, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday.

DOH said under labor department's Advisory No. 1 series of 2021, all employers can only encourage their workers to get COVID-19 jabs but they cannot require them to do so.

"However, any employee who chooses not to get vaccinated or fails to get vaccinated shall not be discriminated against in terms of employment," the country's health department said in a statement.

Under Republic Act No. 11525 or COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021, vaccine cards are not considered as additional requirement for employment.

Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) warned the public on fake reports about COVID-19 cash assistance and vaccination.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said it asked National Bureau of Investigation to probe the fake information which has been causing panic among residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine.—Consuelo Marquez/AOL, GMA News
