Senator Panfilo Lacson on Sunday admitted there were some complications in his proposal to field united candidates against the administration's contenders for Eleksyon 2022.

Lacson made the remark to show his respect to Vice President Leni Robredo's resistance to his suggestion.

Robredo revealed that her camp is planning to field candidates who show good numbers in the surveys, and poor performers will withdraw their candidacy

"I admit, while  there could be some complications attendant to my suggestion, nevertheless, it was a sincere and selfless offer in support of her equally sincere efforts to have one common candidate against whoever will be the administration’s bet," said Lacson in a statement.

Further, Lacson said he could not think of an alternative unification formula for next year's elections.

"Not filing in October in favor of one common candidate as VP Leni would want it will not happen, considering that the campaign won’t even start until  February or four months later," he elaborated.

For the unification formula, Lacson also said that he wanted to maintain his running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III as the common vice presidential candidate in the 2022 national and local elections.

Robredo, in her weekly radio show, confirmed that she resisted Lacson's unification formula because she wanted to make sure that she will file her candidacy. She added that she did not want to "lead on" her supporters if there will be withdrawal of candidacy. —LBG, GMA News
