Eleazar warns food delivery riders amid 'repeated' health protocol violations

Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday reminded food delivery riders to strictly follow minimum public health safety standards and quarantine protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eleazar issued the reminder after his office received reports that some delivery riders supposedly failed to follow protocols while waiting for their clients’ orders in restaurants.

“Sa mga nakalipas na araw, ilang ulit na nakatanggap ang inyong PNP ng mga reklamo at sumbong tungkol sa mga paglabag ng mga delivery riders,” he said in a statement.

Eleazar said he directed chiefs of police and station commanders to coordinate with local government units as well as managers of business establishments to strictly implement the health protocols.

The PNP chief emphasized to delivery riders the existing laws and ordinances to observe minimum public health safety standards and quarantine measures.

While acknowledging the hardships and sacrifices of delivery riders amid the pandemic, Eleazar pointed out that police personnel would still accost them if ever they are caught with violations.

He also encouraged the public to send pictures and videos to report violations of health protocols. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
