Duterte eyes P4.5B confidential, intelligence fund for second straight year

The Duterte administration is seeking P4.5 billion worth of confidential and intelligence funds for President Rodrigo Duterte under the proposed P5.024 trillion budget for 2022 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is provided under the 2022 National Expenditure Program (NEP) that the Executive department submitted to Congress on Monday, August 23.

The P4.5 billion is the same amount of confidential and intelligence fund that the President got under the 2021 national budget.

Likewise, the amount accounts for more than half of the Office of the President’s proposed P8.2 billion budget for next year.

In addition, the P4.5 billion confidential and intelligence fund is higher than the budget for OP’s personnel services which is at P1.17 billion and capital outlay at P574 million.

Under existing policies, the audit on confidential and intelligence fund are not made public due to national security.—AOL, GMA News
