75% of Philippines’ ICU beds occupied —DOH

Around 75% of the country’s 4,200 intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).

Based on the latest bulletin, 75% of the total 1,400 ICU beds in the National Capital Region are also being utilized.

The occupancy rate is considered "high risk" as it is more than 70% but less than 85%.

Meanwhile, 69% of the 14,800 ward beds nationwide remain occupied, placing the ward beds under the moderate category, while ward beds in NCR are at high risk with 73% of the 4,200 total beds in use.

Occupancy rate recorded between 60% to 69% is considered moderate.

Data also showed that 53% of the country’s 3,200 mechanical ventilators are in use while 59% of the 1,200 mechanical ventilators in NCR are occupied.

The Philippines has logged a total of 1,916,461 cases, of which 1,741,089 have recovered and 32,841 have died.—AOL, GMA News
