Philippine COVID-19 ICU beds 71% occupied —DOH

The country's intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 cases are already 71% occupied, Department of Health data indicated on Sunday.

Latest data from the DOH also showed that 66% of the total 1,400 ICU beds in Metro Manila are already utilized.

Meanwhile, 70% of the 14,800 ward beds nationwide are in use, placing the ward beds under the high risk category, as well as the ones in Metro Manila with 73% of the 4,200 total beds utilized.

The occupancy rate is considered high risk if it is over 70% but less than 85%. Occupancy rate recorded between 60% to 69% is considered moderate.

Likewise, the DOH data showed that 55% of the country’s 3,200 mechanical ventilators are utilized, while 59% of the 1,200 ventilators in the capital region are occupied.

The country has so far recorded 1,954,023 COVID-19 cases with 1,777,693 recoveries and 33,109 deaths. —LBG, GMA News
