The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday confirmed that the two riders in a viral video doing motorcycle stunts along a national highway in Zambales were police officers.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the two motorcycle riders - whom he branded as "kamote riders" and "payaso riders" - were identified as Police Chief Master Sergeant Israel Bondoc and Police Master Sergeant Manuel Tolentino.

They are assigned at the Police Regional Office 3.

“Kaagad namang nakilala ang dalawang ito at nakumpirma namin na sila nga ay mga pulis (We immediately identified these two and confirmed that they are indeed cops) ,” he said.

Eleazar ordered their Regional Director and the Highway Patrol Group to conduct proper investigation as part of the PNP's disciplinary measures.

Some netizens tagged Eleazar’s social media account in the video. According to them, the cops violated traffic rules and regulations on road safety.

Eleazar agreed that the cops’ actions were dangerous and clearly put the safety of other motorists, commuters, and pedestrians at risk.

“Let this serve as a warning that we will not tolerate this kind of misbehavior because as police officers, we should serve as the role models in abiding the laws that include traffic rules and regulations,” he said. -MDM, GMA News
