Over 700K quarantine violators recorded in last 12 days —PNP

More than 700,000 quarantine violations have been recorded in the country since August 21, the Philippine National Police said.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, a total of 746,275 violations were recorded nationwide from August 21 to September 1.

Of the number, 166,075 violators have been recorded in the National Capital Region, while 530,743 were in the NCR Plus—composed of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite.

The PNP said more than 600,000 violators were warned, while over 100,000 were fined.

NCR will remain under MECQ until September 7.

Under MECQ, the transition phase between the strictest measure, enhanced community quarantine, and the more relaxed general community quarantine, no dine-in services and religious gatherings are allowed. However, individual outdoor exercises are allowed.

The country has so far recorded 2,020,484 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 1,840,294 recoveries and 33,680 deaths. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
