DOH: 72% of ICU beds nationwide now occupied


Around 72% of the country’s over 4,000 intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied, marking it at high risk, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Based on DOH data, ICU beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) are also at high risk with 70% of the 1,400 beds in use.

Occupancy rate is considered "high risk" if it is more than 70% but less than 85%

Data further showed that ward beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide and in NCR are also at high risk.

According to the DOH, 71% of the 15,100 ward beds nationwide are occupied while 72% of the 4,300 ward beds in NCR are in use.

Meanwhile, around 56% of the country’s 3,200 mechanical ventilators are being utilized while 62% of the 1,100 mechanical ventilators in NCR are occupied.

The Philippines has logged a total of 2,040,568 confirmed COVD-19 cases, of which 1,847,701 have recovered and 33,873 have succumbed to the illness. — RSJ, GMA News
