The additional P888.12 million that the Department of Budget and Management  has released will be used for the special risk allowances (SRA) of a total of 97,560 health care workers, the Department of Health said Saturday.

Interviewed at the Laging Handa public briefing, health undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they are expected to receive the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) from the DBM on Monday, September 6.

"This will cover 97,560 health care workers for the SRA," Vergeire said.

Earlier, the DBM said it released some P9.02 billion in June as part of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2, but portions of these were unused and reverted to the Bureau of the Treasury.

The DBM then released P311.79 million for SRAs of 20,000 healthcare workers.

Vergeire said hospitals in regional offices continued to submit their list of health care workers eligible for the SRAs. —LBG, GMA News
