DOH: COVID-19 ICU beds nationwide at 76%; still at high risk

About 76% of the country's 4,200 intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients are in use, which means it is still at high risk, the Department of Health said Monday.

Recent figures from the DOH case bulletin also showed that Metro Manila's COVID-19 ICU occupancy is at high risk with 73% of the 1,500 beds in use.

Occupancy rate is classified "high risk" if it surpasses 70% but less than 85%.

DOH data also indicated that ward beds for COVID-19 cases in the country are at high risk with 72% of 15,400 total beds occupied.

Meanwhile, ward beds in the metropolis are also classified as high risk with 74% out of 4,300 total beds utilized.

Also, 57% of the country’s 3,300 mechanical ventilators are in use, while 63% of NCR's 1,100 ventilators are occupied. — Consuelo Marquez/RSJ, GMA News
