The municipal government of Pateros has started the registration of its residents aged 12 to 17 years old for COVID-19 vaccination, Mayor Miguel Ponce III said on Friday.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, Ponce noted that the local government is still waiting for clear guidelines from the Department of Health before they conduct the actual inoculation.

“Gumawa kami ng sariling QR code para sa registration ng 12 to 17 [years old] Pateros residents. Ito ay inaayos na namin (We created a QR code for the registration of 12 to 17 years old Pateros residents),” he added.

Ponce said Pateros already reached herd immunity among its residents aged 18 years old and above.

Amid the possible vaccination of the younger population, he pointed out that the Pateros government will continue inoculating non-residents under the “We Vax as One” initiative of Metro Manila mayors.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the amendment in the Emergency Use Authorization of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to include its use on adolescents aged 12 to 17 years old.
