PNP reports 224 new COVID-19 cases; total now 36,916

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said it has recorded 224 new cases of COVID-19 among its personnel, driving up the total number of coronavirus infections to 36,916.

Of this number, 2,640 are active cases, according to data from the PNP Health Service.

A total of 176 new recoveries were reported, resulting in a new total of 34,168.

Meanwhile, the death toll remained at 108, same as on Friday.

The Philippines’ tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 2,179,770 on Friday with 17,964 new infections, according to data from the Department of Health.

This brought the country’s active cases to 175,470, the highest since April 18.

Total recoveries climbed to 1,969,401 after 9,067 more patients recovered from the illness.

Meanwhile, 168 new fatalities brought the death toll to 34,899. —KG, GMA News
