21,411 new Philippine COVID-19 infections recorded; active cases at 181,951


The Philippines reported 21,411 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, raising the number of active cases in the country to 181,951.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the country's total COVID-19 caseload to 2,227,367.

Of the 181,951 active cases, 86% are mild, 9.5% are asymptomatic, 2.59% are moderate, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries, meanwhile, increased to 2,010,271 after 25,049 more patients defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll rose to 35,145 with 168 new fatalities.

The DOH said 65 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 58 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational on September 10, while five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System. — DVM, GMA News
