Philippines logs 20,745 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 180,293

The Philippines on Monday registered 20,745 additional coronavirus disease infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 2,248,071.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the new cases brought the active tally to 180,293 lower than the 181,951 registered on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Further, the fatality tally rose to 35,307, including 163 more patients who lost to the respiratory disease.

Also, 22,290 additional patients recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total recoveries to 2,032,471.

Positivity rate was at 26.7%, with 71,860 COVID-19 tests conducted. International standard is less than 5%.

All laboratories were operational but five failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

These five laboratories contribute to 1.2% of samples tested and 1.4% to positive tests, the DOH said.

Moreover, the DOH modified case tally after deleting 41 duplicates, including 30 recoveries and one death.

Sixty cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths, DOH also said.—LDF, GMA News
