Buying internet load still a problem for learners, teachers

As the country faces another school year of blended learning, teachers and their students still face problems in buying internet loads.

Calvin, a five-year-old, said he is having trouble finding signals for his online classes. His mother, Roanne, also said they are having difficulties in buying internet loads for the classes.

Teacher Nestor, who was trying to stretch a meager salary, said he received a 30-gigabyte load allowance which was only good for three days.

He thus has to shell out P500 per week to buy more load to augment the rest of his online classes.

On Maki Pulido's "24 Oras" report, the Department of Education recorded 24.6 million enrollees for the school year 2021 to 2022, 2 million less compared to the 26.2 million enrollees in the academic year 2020-2021.

DepEd earlier announced the start of the school year and welcomed a "great victory" despite the decrease in enrollees. — Consuelo Marquez/DVM, GMA News
