DepEd extends enrollment until September 30

The Department of Education (DepEd) has extended the enrollment period for school year 2021-2022, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said Tuesday.

This was disclosed by Briones during the deliberation on the proposed P630.8- billion budget for fiscal year 2022.

"We expect to match last year’s performance in enrollment. Since we are expecting... it’s a traditional practice to extend enrollment... and we are extending enrollment up to the end of the month of September," Briones told lawmakers.

A separate DepEd Order stated that the extension of the enrollment would be until September 30 in consideration of the current limitations and difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

All public schools are directed to accept late enrollees until the end of the month upon submission of modified enrollment and survey forms.

Private schools, state colleges and universities, including local universities, which are following the school opening schedule of the DepEd, are highly-encouraged to also accept the late enrollees until the extension date.

The academic year 2021-2022 officially started on Monday, September 13, wherein a total of 25,582,224 million students have enrolled so far. — RSJ, GMA News
