Philippines’ ICU occupancy rate still at high risk — DOH

The occupancy rate of the intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients in the Philippines and National Capital Region remains at high risk, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).

Based on the latest bulletin, 77% of the 4,200 ICU beds nationwide are in use while 79% of the total 1,400 beds in NCR are being utilized.

High risk means the occupancy rate is more than 70% but less than 85%.

Due to this, ward beds nationwide and in NCR are also considered at high risk.

Around 73% of the total 16,000 ward beds in the country are in use while 73% of the 4,400 ward beds in NCR are being utilized.

Meanwhile, 57% of the total 3,300 mechanical ventilators nationwide are occupied while 61% of the total 1,100 ward beds in NCR are in use.

The Philippines has reported a total of 2,283,011 confirmed cases, of which 170,446 are still active, 2,076,823 have recovered, and 35,742 have died. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
