PNP death toll due to COVID-19 climbs to 112

The Philippine National Police on Thursday reported that two more of its personnel died due to COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 112.

In a statement, the PNP said a total of 37,734 COVID-19 cases with 184 new infections have been reported in the police organization.

At least 35,010 have already recovered from the disease while 2,612 are still active cases.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered the Administrative Support to COVID-19 Operations Task Force (ASCOTF) to monitor their facilities and equipment for COVID-19 response.

“I issued an order to continuously check the status of the quarantine facilities, medical supplies and even our medical personnel to prevent scenarios of us facing shortage,” he said.

Eleazar made the order as he acknowledged the continuous rise of COVID-19 cases in the PNP.

For their vaccination, the PNP said 124,758 or 56.02% of PNP personnel are already fully inoculated and 85,877 or 38.56% of its personnel have received their first dose. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
