Entrepreneurs call on Isko Moreno to run for president in Eleksyon 2022

A group of Filipino entrepreneurs on Friday called on Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno to run for president in the 2022 elections.

In a statement, members of the YES 1SKO group said Moreno’s track record as a public servant proved that he was the right man for the job.

Before becoming the city's mayor in 2019, Moreno was elected as Manila councilor from 1998 to 2007 and Manila vice mayor from 2007 to 2016.

“We are witnesses to how Moreno almost single-handedly changed the image of the nation’s capital; by cleaning up the streets, eradicating corruption, and improving the lives of Manileños in a span of just three years,” the group said.

“We are confident that Yorme can do the same for the entire Philippines,” they added.

YES 1SKO also claimed that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Moreno kept economic blows manageable in Manila and showed compassion for the public.

“We feel this is the one thing missing in the country right now during the COVID-19 crisis; a leader embracing the vocation of putting first the people’s welfare before their own or ‘taong-bayan ang una’,” they argued.

A group dubbed as Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas Cebu City had also urged Moreno to run for president.

Previously asked if he would run for the top post, Moreno said he had yet to decide.  — DVM, GMA News
