Robredo camp mum on Eleksyon 2022 plans even after Isko, Pacquiao bared presidential bids

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has remained mum over her plans for Eleksyon 2022 even after Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao, with whom she had meetings recently, already declared their presidential bids.

"Vice President Leni will make her own announcement in due time," Robredo's spokesperson, Ibarra Gutierrez, said when sought for comment on recent developments.

"Chill lang tayo (Let us stay calm)," Gutierrez added.

The filing of candidacy for Eleksyon 2022 is scheduled from October 1 to 8.

Robredo earlier said she will run for President if the broadest coalition of opposition forces will back her up. She also said she is more than prepared if she is chosen to be the opposition's "unity candidate".

Pacquiao announced his presidential bid for Eleksyon 2022 on Sunday, September 19, after being nominated by the PDP-Laban faction loyal to him and Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.

Moreno followed suit and confirmed his Eleksyon 2022 presidential bid on Tuesday, September 21. He formally launched his bid alongside running mate Dr. Willie Ong on Wednesday, September 22, in Baseco, Manila. —KG, GMA News
