DILG exec eyes mandatory wearing of vaccine cards outdoors

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño on Wednesday suggested requiring the wearing of vaccination cards outdoors.

At the Laging Handa public briefing on Wednesday, Diño said he will propose the measure to the I-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

“Ire-request ko sa IATF para maiutos sa lahat ng barangay na ito na sana ang sakripisyo ng bawat Pilipino na nabakunahan. Kung ikaw ay bakunado na, paglabas mo ng bahay isuot mo na yung vaccination card,” he said.

(I will request to the IATF so all barangays will be ordered to make this a sacrifice of every vaccinated Filipino. If you’re already vaccinated, wear your vaccination card when you go out)

With this, Diño pointed out that there is no need for authorities to approach and ask inoculated people to show their vaccination cards.

As of Monday, 18,823,718 or 24.40% of the target population are already fully vaccinated while 22,970,212 have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said.

The National Capital Region was placed under Alert Level 4 starting September 16 as part of the pilot implementation of the new alert level system of the government.

Under the new alert system, establishments are only allowed to accommodate vaccinated people in some services such as dine-in and personal care services depending on the alert level. --Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
