PNP: Over 93K quarantine violators in NCR since start of Alert Level 4

Over 93,000 violators of COVID-19 quarantine restrictions have been recorded by the Philippine National Police (PNP) since the start of the implementation of Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila.

During the day's Laging Handa briefing, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said a total 93,894 violators were accosted by the police from September 16 to 23.

Eleazar said this means the police have accosted an average of 11,712 individuals per day during that period, lower than the 12,600-per-day average recorded in August.

"There are still a lot. 51% were issued warning. 43% were issued tickets, 6% were brought to police station. But I would say it is generally peaceful," he said.

Eleazar said there are 220 areas under granular lockdown in Metro Manila as of latest count. He said these areas are localed in 82 barangays of nine cities/municipalities in the region.

"This has affected 2,697 households and 8,550 individuals," he said.

Under Alert Level 4, outdoor or al fresco dining is allowed at maximum of 30% venue/seating capacity regardless of vaccination status of customers.

Indoor dine-in services are also allowed at a limited 10% venue/seating capacity but will cater only to individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Curfew has also been set at 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. —KBK, GMA News
