Malacañang welcomed the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing President Rodrigo Duterte's net satisfaction rating reaching 62% from the previous 65% despite the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the President's score remains way ahead of his predecessors during the same period.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque cited that the late former President Benigno Aquino III's 30% satisfaction rating a year before he left office in June 2015, while ex-President Gloria Arroyo had a -31% rating a year ahead of stepping down after a decade-long presidency.

Likewise, Roque said former President Ramos’ rating reached 49% in 1997, while the late President Corazon Aquino posted a 24% satisfaction rating in 1991.

"We consider this high satisfaction rating, unprecedented at that, as comparable data from previous presidents,” Roque said.

“Rest assured that President Duterte will continue to exercise decisive and compassionate leadership until the remainder of his term to serve and protect the interest and welfare of all Filipinos.”

According to the SWS, the President scored a +79 net satisfaction rating in November 2020, +65 in May 2021, and +62 in June 2021.

Duterte is running for vice president in the 2022 polls under the PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

Duterte, however, has no running as of yet since his longtime aide Senator Bong Go declined the PDP-Laban Cusi faction’s nomination as the party’s presidential candidate. — DVM, GMA News
