Bayan Muna names nominees for Eleksyon 2022; elects new set of officers

Bayan Muna party-list on Sunday bared its nominees for Eleksyon 2022 during its ninth national convention and 22nd anniversary. 

"Despite the attacks, vilification campaign and the challenges posed by the pandemic, Bayan Muna vowed to keep and advance its position as a leading partylist group and secure three seats in the May 2022 elections  for the upcoming 19th Congress," the party-list said in a statement.

Its first nominee is former Bayan Muna party-list Representative Teodoro 'Teddy' Casiño, who is also the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) spokesperson and its former secretary general.

The second nominee is incumbent Bayan Muna party-list Representative Ferdinand Gaite, also the former national president of the labor group Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE).

The third nominee is Amirah Lidasan, secretary general of the Moro-Christian People's Alliance, a SANDUGO convenor and former national president of the National Union of Students of the Philippines.

The fourth nominee is Atty. Kristina 'Krissy' Conti, former University of the Philippines student regent and University Student Council councilor at UP Diliman.

The fifth nominee is Pepito Pico, former chairperson of the Visayas-Inter Regional Ecumenical Fellowship and the Western Visayas Ecumenical Council (WVEC). He was also the former secretary general of the Human Rights Alliance-Negros.

The party-list also elected its new set of officers:

  • Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate, executive vice president
  • Neri Colmenares, chairman emeritus

  • Raymond Palatino, vice president for Luzon
  • Siegfred Deduro, vice president for Visayas
  • Rep. Eufemia Cullamat, vice president for Mindanao
  • Nathanael Santiago, secretary general
  • Natalie V. Pulvinar, deputy secretary general
  • Imelda Luna, treasurer
  • Atty. Cristina Yambot, general counsel
